Charles University in Prague

Charles University is located in Prague, CZ. It is a public institution. Charles University’s Faculty of Education mission is to prepare teachers for all types and levels of schools, prepare specialists and scientists in the area of pedagogy, educational psychology and didactics. Depending on the type of study, the Faculty of Education awards Bachelor, Master and Doctor diplomas and degrees. In the area of international co-operation, the Faculty of Education focuses on various types of projects in the Socrates programme (Comenius, Lingua, Grundtvig, Minerva, Arion, Erasmus)
The contact person and her colleague in the project, Marie Hofmannová (a linguist) coupled with their professional experiences in teaching, are involved in training future teachers and in the research in the domain of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) – teaching mathematics in English as a foreign language. They have extensive experience in CLIL educational context, and presented many papers at international conferences. Since 1998 they have been participating in three CLIL-related European projects within the Socrates framework. The contact person is co-author of a book on CLIL [Pavesi, Bertocchi, Hofmannová, Kazianka (2001), Insegnare in una lingua straniera].
